Meet Dr. Chizoba Anako

Dr. Chizoba Anako is an advanced practice provider specializing in HIV/AIDS and an educator. Dr. Anako earned her bachelor's and master's degrees in nursing from Southern Connecticut State University and completed her Doctorate and a post-master's certificate in Nursing Education at Johns Hopkins University. Most recently, she completed the AACN-Wharton Executive Leadership Program at the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania. Her academic excellence was acknowledged through multiple prestigious scholarships, leading to her induction into the Mu Beta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing at Southern Connecticut State University and the Sigma Tau International Honor Society at Johns Hopkins University.


Throughout her research career, Dr. Anako has been the principal and co-principal investigator on numerous clinical research projects, featuring her work in peer-reviewed journals. She has presented her research at various local and national medical conferences, including the Eastern Nursing Research Conference at Yale University. Beyond her research, Dr. Anako contributes to the nursing profession as a member of the Nursing Foundation of Maryland's Board of Trustees and the peer-reviewed Maryland Nurse Journal's Editorial Board (TMNJ) through the Maryland Nurses Association. She is also a peer reviewer for the Journal of the Association of Nurses in AIDS Care (JANAC). Dr. Anako is professionally affiliated with several organizations, including the American Academy of HIV Medicine, American Nurses Association, Association for Medical Education and Research on Substance Abuse (AMERSA), Association of Nurses in AIDS Care, Johns Hopkins Alumni Association, Maryland Action Coalition (MDAC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP), American Academy of Nursing, National League of Nursing, and the Nurses on Board Coalition.

Outside of her professional commitments, Dr. Anako is dedicated to her family and actively participates in her children's education. She serves as the homeroom mom/Class ambassador at her children's schools, where she actively organizes class events and supports the school community. Dr. Anako also enjoys traveling, spending time with her family, and dancing.
